| Looks set to be named as new England coach ,personally think this is a great move by the Rfl as Bennett’s tenure in charge was just not working and needed a shake up if we are to be taken serious again.whatever your thoughts on wane It’s a win win for us to compete on the international stage and hopefully put some pride back into the national team .

| I don't like the guy, but it certainly can't be any worse than under Bennett.

| Whats not to like, he gets the very best out of players and wins matches. He never complains about injuries and isn't frightened to give young talented players a go. Brilliant appointment.

| Shaun wane seems to have a way of complaining without moaning, remember on a couple of occasions we beat them and he blamed circumstances and tummy bug.
Im not a big fan but have to agree if you pull the shirt on it means a lot and much is expected from you. His aggression seems to go over the top in my view.
Must admit think he will do a good job.

| He’ll hopefully bring some pride and passion into wearing the shirt again something that’s been sadly lacking of late

I don't like his whiny, partisan attitude, or his reckless approach to the safety and wellbeing of opposition players; he does however have an ability to instil pride and passion in his players, and I agree, he has had a good track record of bringing youngsters through to first team rugby.
Maybe his first act should be to contact Austin, Coote and Hastings, and say "cheers lads, but it don't work like that any more."

None of those 3 players added anything to the squad, apart from a it of "diversity" to the squad.
Having said that Austin playing on the wing was a waste of talent. One of the most ridiculous positional selections of the last 40 years and for what ??
Coote was awful at FB and Hastings was invisible in the halves but, apart from that, it was definitely worth a shot

I'm not a fan of Shaun Wane either but if he were to do this bit then he'd definitely go up in my estimation. I refused to watch any of the last series for this very reason.
I don't mind if we're not good enough to beat Australia with English players - I do mind us displacing them to put in Aussies and then still proving to be nowhere near good enough. What's the point????

Well, Coote won't be playing, as he was a Scotland player. As for Austin and Hastings, it's a no for me. When you play internationally, it's about heart as well as ability, and the non-English/British players don't bleed for the badge in the same way.
I think Wane is the perfect fit, because he'll get the players up for it. In Barrie McDermott's autobiography, he talked about he and Terry O'Connor had decided to start a fight at the first scrum, because he knew it would fire everyone up and put the Aussies off. As it happened, GB scored before the first scrum so they had to wait for the second half.
But it's that mentality that will beat the Aussie, not endless defensive drills with no focus on attack.
And as for Sinfield, his only qualification for these jobs appears to be that he was once a good kicker, because he has no other credentials for it.

| Never quite understood all this aura that surrounds Sinfield. A good kicker, yes, but not much else. Very much a case of "Jobs for the boys" that has put him into the position that he holds today.
As for Wane, I've never been a fan off either the man or his grubby tactics, but he's certainly the one who could revitalise the fortunes of England/Great Britain. Probably use the best players in their natural positions unlike Bennett, particularly in that last test.
