It will be policed for the first few weeks, by grand final time Wigan or saints will be wrestling their way to another grand final victory.

I would have preferred that the 6 again rule was removed altogether.

There were games that I watched last season, where the application of this rule was a joke, and refs were imposing another set of six without any apparent reason.

I'm glad that they're looking at that and also the ruck area in general, ecause its a mess and its ruining the game. I just don't believe that they will actually change anything in the long run, because these rule changes always seem to be forgotten by about round 10.

Yay just like the last time the play the ball correctly was being policed, lasted about 3 games then just got ignored.
Rules change all the time then just get they slack off and it reverts back to how it was before.
It will be over policed then drop right off, it's always the same.

Walsmley will have to retire if they enforce the PTB rule.

But no reform at the match review committee so any slight indiscretions will immediately lead to a 3 game ban. 5 games on appeal and 7 games when taken to the independent tribunal.
This is the area that they need to address. Not the rules and applications of the game that will last a grand total of 5 games before being watered down because the fans. Coaches and players are kicking up so much of a fuss thatbthe rfl have to take action and water it down.
They also need to address the referees and the lack of understanding of the game.

I didn't read anything about stepping off the mark. He will probably win penalties for saints for the opposition contacting him after he's walked forward 4 paces in to them after his off balance PTB. Saints have different rules and preferential treatment. Don't you remember the meltdown when they had the same rules at the start of last season?

The RFL and refs get the ruck/play the ball they deserve. The messing about could be addressed readily with fair warning before the season and consistent enforcement of the rules of the game.

I am glad they see this area as a major detriment to the spectacle of the game.

Personally I would have done away with the set restart entirely. It is not sufficient punishment and is gamed.
