Just read an article about Richard Harris and Peter O'Toole and their legendary shenanigans following Munster and Ireland Rugby Union and this crept up
The only "modern" really fit to join the pantheon of Burton, O'Toole, Albert Finney and himself (Harris) as actors and hellraisers was Russell Crowe: "Top bloke, loves his rugby, doesn't give a stuff, brilliant actor, a much loved new friend. He will carry the baton on. He irritates the hell out of the Hollywood bigwigs, but he's much too good for them to ignore."

I asked him to recite Sanctity, the Patrick Kavanagh poem, which to Crowe's fury, the BBC had edited out of their coverage of the BAFTA awards earlier in the year. He had taught Crowe the words the previous evening during a late night session in the Australian's hotel suite.

To be a poet and not know the trade,
To be a lover and repel all women;
Twin ironies by which great saints are made,
The agonising pincer jaws of heaven.

On this occasion Harris spoke with feeling, a personal anthem perhaps?

Surely we must have more people like Crowe who we can tap into to spread the word?

We've got Duncan Preston from Emmerdale watching Bradford. So that's two A-listers already. Any more?

My previous comment obviously wasn't wanted, maybe it was the BF part??
Michael Smith and Johnny Vegas both follow St Helens. The count is now 4.

Harry Potter's Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) is a Rhino. That's 5 superdooper A-list megastars surely primed to spread the good word.

Andy Whyment (Kirk in Corrie) and Mike Walling (Jacko's brother-in-law in Brush Strokes) are both Salford fans. Not exactly superstar fans but we'll take what we can get. :lol:

Darren Fletcher was at the Wigan playoff win - not sure if he's a big fan but looked like he was enjoying himself!

What an unfortunate surname. I hope he wasn’t caught farting in the school assembly.
