You do have to wonder how much RL he actually watches outside of the few cup games he commentates on in a year. For me personally I think pundits and commentators on tv (in any sport) should have played/coached much more recently as all sports evolve.

When he first came to Aus in 1991 for half a season he played mostly at full back averaging a try every second game. A class player.

I don't mind him as a commentator but my wife cannot abide his voice so doesn't watch his matches.

I was only talking about this with my Brother in Law at Christmas, He played for Hull in an A-team game against Widnes at Naughton park and Davies was making his debut and there was about 8k there.

As others say he was a great player for our game & wish a few more talented Welsh lads would give our game a try. As for his commentating let those who complain try commentating in a second language, as he can,

I have German & Romanian sisters-in-law. Both have excellent English but I wouldn't want either commentating on RL, though it would be more entertaining than Davies nasal whine.
