I'm not sure if many have heard of this youngster but i was told tonight that he has signed for Leigh.
I just watched him play fullback tonight for the GB Community Lions Amateur team who were badly beaten by the Australian Schoolboys who are the elite youngsters in Australia.
Pownall was named as GB's man of the match by the Aussie coaching staff and must have impressed the watching Ian Millward with a faultless display, he showed lots of pace and defended well under constant pressure.
He's earned rave reviews all the past season and stood out at Miners first team level in the couple of games I saw him. From the sound of the number of teams that were after him, he is very highly rated.
Good to hear he went well, but go on, how many did the Lions get flogged for?
