Really interesting, but I find it impossible to look at footage of Mike Gregory without my heart breaking all over again.

Some legends from that video sadly no longer with us.

Greg, Darby, Sanderson.

I though he died of cancer about 3 years ago but a google search suggests otherwise. Apologies!

I wonder who it was then who passed not so long ago? It was a second-row member of the squad during our 'nearly' season 93/94 and I remember them being an unsung hero. It was after the passing of Greg and Darbs, and it wasn't Mackey or Johnson.

Maybe they were just very ill and thankfully came through it.

bloody hell.......first lines..... They trained well all week........!!

An absolute fabulous video though... and Nice to See Dave Lyon looking fit and healthy.
Super league has certainly killed off the Challenge cup hasnt it?

back then 26,500 for wigans semi- final and 15,600 (central park full ???) for Warringtons semi- final. and really 78,000 actual people in the stadium for the final.

Hull v Leeds semi may get 15,000 but Wigan Salford wont get to 10,000 and lord knows what the finally will look like if Salford get there.

anyway happy times....!!

maybe the oldies can get all nostalgic at the Middle 8's what with them being largely semi pro like we were back in 1990.....

I'd forgotten about Phil Chadwick and Billy Whizz. Real characters. I remember the day like it was yesterday and was truly heartbroken at the result. Happy times.

Very good.

Remember being at the semi final against Oldham at Central Park, clinging on 10-6, hoping against hope, only for the Oldham winger to cross in the corner late on, total deflation; then anguish and despair turning to salvation and relief as the ref and linesman disallowed it for offside by what only could be described as the wingers kneecap. Action replays showed it ccntroversial and tough on Oldham but we were going to wembley again.

We went down on a coach and stayed the weekend, can't say we ever looked like winning on the day against the pie pro's , but it was great just getting there.

Greg, Darby, Sanderson.

Not Gary but Brian Johnson(coach) and Greg Mackey (played in our win of the Lancashire Cup that season) both passed.
