It is well said. But it is also ironic that it comes from the chairman of a club who for years have relied on dual reg heavier than any other championship club. If you want the league to be more "professional", dont turn it into a SL reserve grade!

So how many SL teams have a reserve side....the answer is 2, Hull & Wakefield. So where would you play your fringe players in the championship & league one or the U19 league ?

Be interesting to see how the proposed changes to reserve teams in SL impacts the sport as a whole, I suppose Swinton would rather have it be called off? |

If we want the championship to be seen as a serious, professional league, as he is suggesting, then we tell the SL clubs to shove it and get their own reserve side.

It didn’t take long for the thread to get moved off topic. Andy Mazey makes a valid point, if Rochdale can use Mayfield’s ground, why couldn’t Leigh play at Leigh East instead of having to hire the Totally Wicked Stadium?

My bad. I do agree with his point! If the championship is wanting to raise its profile and get a TV deal, it cant be seen to be playing in a farmers field. |

We’ve got one. Leigh and to be fair, our players get more playing in the championship than they would playing a load of amateur players from Wakefield |

As for saying “it’s a professional sport” - if all Swinton’s players are fully professional then fair enough. If not then they can shut the f up.

Roy. What was wrong with what I said? Our players learn more playing for you in the championship than they would in a reserve team because there isn’t the player pool to run a decent standard reserve league. It would be full of under 19s and amateur players |
