He's resigned over what looks like a 2014 issue when he was in contact with the club whilst banned. the nrl have put an embargo on him. however this does not apply to superleague. the significance of this is that if this story develops, any club making a poor start would be aware there is a top class coach waiting in the wings who could possibly only gain decent employment in superleague.

Going off the ‘First Coach to be sacked thread’ I can only really see Radford in trouble IF Hull made a poor start. But even then doesn’t mean Flanagan would come over for half or 3/4’s of a season if his preference is NRL. As good a chance an NRL job comes up mid season or he waits until the end of the NRL season for a 2020 job.

He cannot get back into the NRL. He is banned indefinitely! He is finished. Finito! End of story.

Likely options imo St Helens or Warrington that’s if he’s even to continue coaching.

Not sure he’d be comfortable as assistant to his previous assistant. May be a little too ironic for him.

The slippery opportunist Shaun Edwards has bailed? Who would have guessed at that happening?

As for Shame Flanagan, Ian Lenagan may have problems hiring someone who is so obviously ethically challenged.

The announcement of Edwards was at a time when season tickets were due to be renewed. The wigan fans fell for it hook, line and sinker and snapped up the season tickets on the promise that the prodigal son with no rugby league coaching experience would return. Edwards only last week said that wigan were only an option and he was hoping he could stay in union and is looking at a gig in wales

This is an utterly appalling statement and attitude by Edwards.

However it gives Adrian Lam the chance to prove himself and possibly make his appointment more long term.
