It has been a rumour circulating on various forums. Now the distinguished Sky rugby league commentator and former Wigan player Brian Carney has added his own weight to the rumours, at the end of the St Helens vs Hull FC telecast: Samuel Tomkins could be playing in the south of France for Catalans in 2019.

One assumes that Tomkins is being sought in order to play in the halves, where the Catalans have serious deficiencies, rather than as full back where the club has many good options. It could be a huge boost for the Catalans performance, and finally give the club a shot at winning silverware.

I don't think he'll want to play in the championship though.

Wigan made him marquee signing. And paying him a huge wedge, alledadly highest paid player in super league. And he has been very poor value and even an out right waste if money bringing him back. Massive chunk of cap space and massive chunk full stop for wigan to save, can see them off loading.

Catalan apparently ready to offer 4 year deal. I think he will go. Wigan free some space in wages and sign hardaker.

If Catalan sign tomkins to play FB then I really have no idea what is going on down there.

Fits in with Catalans plans well sign somebody who used to be really good pay then a massive salary and get nothing in return

I know it's been said before but i think his future lies in the halves. He just doesn't have that spark anymore that he had from FB when he left for NZ a few years back.
