Talking of statues/tributes etc, I know it is really an 'American' thing, but I would like to see them retire his number from use after this season. A fitting tribute and legacy to a great player, a humble guy, a committed family man and a real fighter. Do it now while he still has chance to see it.
I understand the sentiment but I wouldn't be a fan of this myself. I am sure the club will do the right things: we are pretty good at how we go about our business.
I don't know Rob personally but I doubt he want want his shirt to be retired, he'd probably be more keen on seeing the next young gun coming through the Academy aiming to make it their own and make new stories in it.
I am sadder about Rob Burrow's condition than just about anything else that has happened in recent years. Such a lovely bloke and family, and done so much to give us all wonderful memories over his career. He is right up there with my favourite all-time Leeds players.
I would support a statue in due course. Maybe naming a stand after him too - Western Terrace doesn't do much for me! And I always remember him scoring that great try in the GF against Saints from right to left, the view from the South Stand would see the score on the Western Terrace end.. bill silly I know!
Without being too morbid, like I said I'm confident the club will find the right ways to pay tribute to Rob, and to help support his family.
