Australia and Samoa international Reni Maitua has signed for Feverstone Rovers. There are a few big name players in the championship this year, Reni Maitua, Fui Fui Moi Moi and Wes Naiqama. I am sure multiple super league clubs would have wanted to sign these players, but must have been outbid by championship clubs. While it's great to see top players in the championship, I am not sure how sustainable this is. What is the championship salary cap this year?

I'm getting sick of everyone worrying about how sustainable everything is, we're fans we should just worry about our teams winning games not the business side of things, that's for the said clubs to worry about and make sure everything runs smoothly.

It is a really interesting development though. Are these players just genuinely shot now and unable to attract a decent offer from a SL club? Or are they being outbid by clubs in the lower leagues?

could be outbid due to the stupid salary cap.

Maitua will do well if he can control his off field activities. Surprised he wasn't picked up by another NRL club, as despite being 32 he's still a good player. Despite the odd brain fart. Plus he had a couple of years out of the game due to getting caught with cocaine in his system, so his bodies probably not as beat up as Fui's. One worth watching in my humble opinion.

Probably more to do with hanging out for a big SL contract, SL clubs filling their overseas rosters, only option left nsw cup or championship1 club.

Will he not struggle to get a visa due to his dubious past?

Hopefully not as he will add to the Championship a good signing from Rovers!

A good player but finds it hard to stay out of trouble off the field.

Surely the RFL will support the visa application of a player banned for drugs, and arrested twice
