Fifita forgotten stat : Tue Aug 31, 2021 10:01 pm
We always talk about Fifita impacting the team with his runs and tackle busts and offloads...... Which of course he does.

But I've just been through the stats and the last time he missed a tackle was against Wigan!! 23rd July.

That kind of effort is worth keeping in mind when you think he looks unfit or tired.

I think it’s just Fifita’s style. He’s very much a ‘relaxed’ style but in actual fact I think he works extremely hard in defence and attack. I think it’s a minority that in weeks gone had mistaken his style of play for laziness but i along with I guess many others see the real contributions he makes.

He is a very valuable asset to the trinity still and he regularly tops the metres and as states tackle stats are great.

Credit where it’s due to the big man. He had a rib issue but he’s shown his toughness and come through and finding form again.

I’m fact a number of the forwards props and second towers are really putting in some shifts these past few weeks and it’s a big credit to them all. They have greatly contributed to the up turn in fortunes.

Agree Fifita does a lot of work maybe not those 40 yard scatter all in front runs witch made him famous The Problem as been he as insisted on playing when injured but by doing so could be the reason we are still in S L .Still the best prop we have and looking to be getting back to fittness

He appears to have a lazy style, but he's scheming all the time as shown by the Arundel try - Dave was running slowly -looked lazy, but then he moved quick towards the corner drew the men in, and slipped the try scoring pass to Arundel. Good stuff!

He’s very calm for a prop forward. Look at the majority of English props, most of the time they aim for a very straight and direct run ensuring they find the floor quickly (unless of course your name is Ollie Wilkes and it’s Widnes away :D). Dave is different, he has the ability to asses his options and often find space where others wouldn’t, as pointed out above for the Arundel try.

A real asset and can say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching him play in a Trinity shirt! Hope to see a few more too.

DONT TOUCH THE WATCH

Re: Fifita forgotten stat : Fri Sep 03, 2021 10:34 pm
I think good players adapt and change their games as they get older, with injuries etc depicting this. He isn’t the same Dave that did 30/40 metre rampaging runs and ended up under the sticks etc like a few years ago. He seems a lot more refined especially with his offload game. He’s an extremely valuable asset to our team.

Re: Fifita forgotten stat : Sat Sep 04, 2021 7:26 am
Dave is just Dave and this club suits him.

He’s not a great player in the way his brother is, if he were he wouldn’t be here.

His limitations would be to much in the NRL or even for a big club here, but at BV he can basically be Dave.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he isn’t good enough for Saints or the Roosters even, I just think deep down he just doesn’t want to be. I think he’s right, to much pressure and expectation would cramp his style. Impromptu genius is Daves thing and it’s at clubs like ours where you get the chance to do that.

All the same those defensive stats show that although he’s predominantly an entertainer, he’s no clown.

He may not be a legend just yet but pound for pound he’s one of the best signings this club has ever made, certainly from the NRL.
