Trinity Operations : Tue Jan 14, 2020 9:54 pm
A genuine query this:

reading in this week's RL press in an interview with CC, I'm sure that he stated that since the start of last season Trinity players have undergone twenty-odd operations.
My query is, are all these operations undertaken privately, by NHS or a mixture of both. If it's NHS are we subject to favourable waiting times.

I suppose some clever dick will undermine the question, but I'm just interested to know. :?:

Jordan’s was at pinders, went at approximately 2.30 pm Boxing Day had his check and diagnose and got back home at 11.15pm so definitely NHS there.

As MC said last year that these operations had cost in excess of £250000 which hadn’t been budgeted for in total, one could deduce that the treatment is in the private sector.

Thanks for that BLM. Nice going from the staff at Pinders that. I know you're keeping all on here up to date with Jordan's progress. A speedy recovery to the lad!!

That was quick, I was two days waiting to get my finger back together after ripping the end nearly off, I even went in the next day after the accident and was sent home when someone had a worse one taking one off with a lawn mower

Never noticed that statement at the time, FSW. That's one heck of bill and a big dent in the clubs budget. Hopefully we can be relatively injury free this season then on that basis.

During my time there it wasnt all done through NHS, as I recall processing some of the medical invoices

I would imagine everyday common occurrences like fractures would be dealt with by the NHS on the day or day after, but the more complex injuries would take a lot longer and therefore it would be in the clubs interest to go private to speed up recovery.

That's my thoughts too Wayne.

Maybe also there are such things as waiting lists too.

BLM, was Jordys op a plate insertion. I had one inserted when I had my jaw broken, after being assaulted a while back.

My theory would be this but I’d don’t know.

The NHS would cover all emergent stuff at A&E, so virtually any injury on field that need immediate attention, same as anyone else.

I’m fairly sure that there is no private sector A&E as such and an ambulance will only take you to an NHS hospital even if you’re a rock god.

After the initial treatment then I suspect that’s where it starts to head privately if needed.

I an injury is long running and diagnosed by the clubs medical staff and needs treatment they can’t offer them I’d guess that would be private unless it were so complex that only the NHS could treat it ie something non sports related like I hate to say it but a cancer or heart issue.

It’s a mix I guess. So no I don’t think they get any more preferential treatment than any one else at A&E. Times vary but o had a broken ankle and I was in and out in less than three hours! but I’m sure that’s not always so. The private stuff will be exactly when you want it as you’re paying.

It’s fair enough I see no demons here.
