Personally I love and loath friedlies.
They blow off the cobwebs and if you win they do give you a faint glow.
They are vital to play for fitness purposes etc but they are utterly unimportant in terms of result, that’s the truth.
Rarely have I seen a friendly that truly represents how a team will perform in the coming season, in fact it usually the opposite.
The only thing they do show is if certain players have improved or billed up or are back to full fitness. You can spot individuals but not the team in these games.
Those who imagine they can are deluded imho.
