He was always 4th best winger at the club IMO. Sad to see him go but if he’s not willing to fight for his place then what can the club do other than let him go and seek that regular wing spot that he wants.
I'm not really sure what everyone's problem with Budgie is. Imo some of the stuff he gets stick for goes unnoticed when other 'fan favourite' wingers do the same thing.
It's probably because he had the audacity to say he wanted to play in the NRL...
maybe its the fact he looks miserable all the time and looks like he wants to be else where?!

This,
Since his return he looks as if he has the weight of the world on his shoulders it doesn’t make for good viewing really,I’m not saying players should be like performing seals but at least look like you want to be there.
As for Davies, solid player nothing more for me,of the two Marshall was always the more eye catching and his upper his game last season to meet the challenge head on once Davies was injured.

Don't envy the club's dilemma with this one. Could very easily come back to haunt us, but then again I don't think there was ever an obvious answer.
On the one hand, he clearly doesn't have the natural attacking talent that any of our other wingers do. Doubt there'll be any other clubs with 5 first team wingers, and it's not fair on the lad if he's not playing.
Having said that it's rare to get a winger who is so good at the other side of the game, running the ball from his own line and doing the hard yards, at such a young age. You see the work that Richards/Hall/McGilvary/Makinson can do for the team when they're in their late 20s, it's a real asset and there's a chance that Davies could develop into one of those wingers (perhaps not quite to the same level).
We can't keep them all, and this might be the best option, but Catalans have been canny to sign him. If I were Leeds I'd have been all over this.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.
We were overstocked with wingers so something had to give. Like others I'd have preferred Burgess to go but obviously we aren't privy to knowledge of the money involved or whether Burgess was wanted by another SL club/willing to leave.
Sad to see him go but he is 4th choice winger. Best all round for me and if it came to a straight shoot between him or Marshall it’d be Marshall every time. I’d put Marshall and a fully fit Manfredi in front of J Burgess tbh
Baffling decision again. Who exactly is in charge of our hiring, Saints chairman?
The worst winger at the club right now is Joe Burgess. His main attribute that made him so dangerous was his speed and that has totally gone. His only other plus points is that hes not bad in the air under the high ball but even then, he is hardly safe as houses. The rest of his game is rank average to poor and his body looks shot.
Davies is a far better all rounder who whilst not a flyer by any means, he made up for it in other areas such as his carries, work rate and enthusiasm.
Burgess should of been the first one to go and will be on much more money than Davies was.
We've lost a really handy player and kept one that looks on the decline.
