Re: Warringtons violent fans : Sat Aug 10, 2019 5:41 pm
I've put this on VT:

'First of all, I'm not justifying the minority of Wire fans' misbehaviour in any way. Like most Wire fans, we're all quite ashamed that those people climbing up were representing our club as supporters.

Nothing's quite black and white though (no reference to Hull!). My Dad has just returned from France after watching the game. He's 68 and always gives honest, trustworthy opinions of things. He was 30m away, but had a reasonable view of events unfolding, not the best, but nevertheless valid. He said that some of the Catalan fans in the VIP area had started to throw glass bottles and glasses at the Wire fans. One of these hit a kid and it went off from then.

There's no excuse for the scenes we saw, but without making excuses, some of you may understand why it kicked off. Its not black and white. Like most things, it takes two to tango (pardon the pun), and so far from reports from friends who went, the Catalan fans played more than a part to causing this. Also, Ben Pomeroy has been mentioned by a few- I won't say anymore!

That said, those fans climbing up should be identified and punished. It's genuinely an embarrassment to me as a Wire fan and most others who are descent, respecting to fans like most of you. I would like to think that most other fans have a nice experience with our fans, as I do with you if I have the pleasure to meet you in the pub before or after games. A few years back when we played Cats at Widnes in the cc semi-final, the whole stand of Wire fans stood up and clapped when the few Catalans fans made their arrival. Nice one to the previous Hudds poster as well- our friendship and respect certainly goes the other way.'

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll be safe as houses when we play each other. Just say boo to them and they'll soon f off. They're just just nob-ends who've watched Football Factory and think their hard. Pure embarrassing. Most of us Wire fans are descent. The ones who aren't are just pathetic Green Street wannabes and will run a mile, I've seen it before. Like those idiot England fans who raise their arms at opposition fans, only to run a mile when they get some back.

Anyhow, you're looking better as the season progresses. I think you'll have our number next game. By the way, two great signings in Hastings and Burgess for next year- looking good for you guys.

This isn't last week, where fans inside the ground cam easily be seen causing problems. That's black and white.

This happened outside of the ground and no one can say one way or the other if it was Wire fans or some local chavs.

Sorry that doesn't fit your agenda.

But last week it wasn't black and white either, there was this imaginary kid who was hit with a bottle then vanished into thin air, as though his/her parents wouldn't be screaming blue murder about it. There will always be some reason it wasn't Warrington fans at fault.

We do have a few bell-ends. But you do have to wonder why those idiots did what they did. It's not an excuse, far from it as I know we have a number of toe rags. But, I've never seen in the 30 years of watching rl anything like that, certainly not from Wire fans.

But no excuses. I just hope that most of you know that most of us are descent. We need to weed the sh!ts out.

Last time we played Wire at our place there were several groups of Warrington supporters trying to start fights on the way to the carpark. The most embarrassing incident was when a teenager in a mixed age group was offering to take on allcomers shouted on by a couple of teen girls and a middle aged couple. They had managed to separate a mid thirties bloke who was giving some back. Eventually the young bloke got worked up enough to throw a punch and got lathered. Mum and sister/girlfriend went wild because sweet innocent Jonny got his ass handed to him. I could still hear them when I got to the other side of the pitches.

That's disgraceful and shameful. We need to weed these sh!ts out cos it looks like there's a few. Apologies on the behalf of the vast majority who have nothing to do with these embarrassments. I would like to think that if I was there, I'd try and stick up for the innocent fans, though easier said than done. By the way, I've never had any trouble personally from Wigan fans, always had a pleasant time in the locals, even with colours on- in 30 odd years.

You won't with most wiganers but last year me my older brother and my 15 year old niece were set upon by about a dozen wire fans for no reason causing damage to the drivers door of my Jaguar XJ which i worked hard for i don't drink or smoke and i take pride in my car and motorbike i am probably not going on Friday even though I'm a season ticket holder as i don't want my present car damaged i will watch it on TV

It is obvious that many of the supporters making defensive comments for Warrington on this subject were not around in the seventies when their supporters were regarded as the worse in the league due to the amount of trouble they caused on their visits to other grounds. It was like going to a Latic's match with the amount of Police involved.

It was so bad at the time that many supporters of other clubs including Wigan would never go to a game at Warrington, especially at the time they played at Wilderspool.

The recent trouble has been nothing like those day's.

Re: Warringtons violent fans : Mon Aug 12, 2019 6:54 am
Some have short memories on here.

It wasn’t too long ago we had fighting almost weekly in the South Stand and at some away games. So to sit there and label Warrington a “dump” and their fans as “vile” really is rather hypocritical.

I work in Warrington and to be totally honest it’s a very nice place to go and work in. It’s town centre shames ours. Is there rough areas? Of course. Same as there is in Wigan. That comment from a previous poster calling Warrington a dump was totally off track and a great deflection tool.

99% of Warrington fans I’ve met and spoken to, before and after matches (including OT) were highly respectable and good people. Sit and tar them all with the same brush if you will but don’t try and portray all Wigan fans as a shining example of how fans should behave; just remember we have our fair share of idiots also. The pot has called the kettle black numerous times on this thread.
