KEEP LIAM FARRELL ON THE LEFT : Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:08 pm
why why why do we insist on moving Farrell to accommodate Greenwood? Faz is world class on the left, we moved him to the middle to accommodate greenwood today and it just does not work. Greenwood has not done enough to warrant moving a winning formula, he needs to earn His place somewhere else IMO

Yeah it was a bit of a shambles wasn’t it. Farrell trying to play like Lockers just showed how good Lockers actually is.

Agree with the above post. Lockers is a freak once in a generation player, links our attack up so well.

Faz tried that role but should just stick to what he’s one of the best at on that left edge.

I said this at the start of the year when Faz was playing on the right and everybody disagreed.

I think on from his form last season Greenwood probably deserved having preference on which side he played on at the start of the season, that has gone and it should now be Farrell playing on the left.

If Faz keeps this form up and doesn’t get selected for the GB tour then I despair. He’s not even in the England elite squad so it looks doubtful but it’s borderline criminal. He’s head and shoulders the best second rower in this competition IMO.

Just don’t have him as a link man in the middle.

Re: KEEP LIAM FARRELL ON THE LEFT : Sat Aug 10, 2019 2:26 pm
Given how long Farrell has been used on the left edge I don't think it's fair to expect him to move into the middle and for him to have the same effect immediately. At present I think he's best kept on the left edge because he's in outstanding form and that left edge is our best attacking weapon. Long term though it might be worth a look. If Greenwood can regain his early season form next season he's a big threat out wide and that's when trying Farrell in the middle might be worth a shot.

Faz has a good all round game and decent hands. He may have thrown a pretty horrendous long pass out at one point but even O'Loughlin has thrown his fair share of those. It's just a case of seeing what works and seeing what works takes more than one or two games. For the time being though Farrell on the left edge is our best option, Isa is playing some of his best rugby on the right and Smithies is our first choice 13 and until Greenwood starts showing some form there's little point in moving anyone around.
