Can anyone kindly confirm if Branston Beans are the same as what used to be Crosse and Blackwell beans, please? Many thanks!

Strange topic but Branston was one of Crosse and Blackwell's brands started in the 1920's. Nestlé bought Crosse and Blackwell in the 1960's, then Premier Foods (Mr Kipling, Ambrosia, Sharwood's, Oxo, Bisto, Batchelors etc.) bought the Branston brand in 2004 and launched Branston Beans in 2005. A Japanese company Mizkan now own the Branston brand. Fantastic baked beans Branston Beans, much better than those Heinz beans from Wigan that are mostly juice.

Thanks Lister. I ask as I'm finding it difficult to find Crosse and Blackwell baked beans, and wonder if they'd been rebranded as Branston beans?

I'm a strict Heinz man myself. But I'll tell you something, Cadbury's Creme Eggs don't taste the same as they used to and don't even get me started on the size of wagon wheels.

Neither glass half full or empty. Just a realist.

I've had a further look and the actual maker of Branston Beans is Princes (who are owned by Mitsubishi Corporation). They use the Branston brand name under license. Crosse & Blackwell are also part of Princes, but it appears Princes use that brand just for soups these days. So I doubt you'll find Crosse & Blackwell beans, but Branston are better anyway. Creme Eggs previously used Dairy Milk, they changed the chocolate and it's much worse. The maker of Wagon Wheels always says that they haven't got smaller, and it's just that they appeared bigger because of us being kids.

Heinz are the worst baked beans. Tasteless weak filth. Branston by far superior.

I'd be shot then.
Beans - So much liquid, even supermarket own brand beans are better now.
Ketchup - Not enough tomatoes and lots of sugar.
Muligatawny soup - I wouldn't have this as it contains meat.
Tomato soup - I've had store own brands that have been the same, or even better.
Heinz just living off their brand name.

Christ Lefty and I thought Britain would be crap under Boris. Can't beat Heinz beans, despite their State of origin.
