The absolute biggest waste of a supreme god given talent I’ve seen. He had pretty much everything and should’ve won numerous trophies, individual awards, international caps and probably played down under (where he would’ve dominated).

I’m glad I got to watch him play but saddened he didn’t hit the heights he should have. I’d love to think there’s another Gareth Hock in the Wigan junior system somewhere ready to come through but only this time that player has the sense to make the most of their talent.

Summed up perfectly, should have been one of the very best.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

I’ll second that.

Baffling. I try to back up the club where possible but it's beyond stupid that we would consider having him back after the way he treated the club twice. Even more so given that he was totally washed up as well.

Not that it makes much difference as what I'm about to say is only slightly less ridiculous but Radlinksi actually says.

"It wasn't that long ago that we actually offered him the opportunity to finish his career at Wigan. The stars did not align on that occasion, but he will always be welcome."

Now I heard it was a couple of years ago with the opportunity to finish his career meaning at the end of that deal he would retire, not that we offered him one for this season (its the reporter that actually uses the words this season).

Bear in mind he played for Leigh 2017 and who the coach was at Leigh at that point.

Please don't use any common sense on this topic or else it wont be an opportunity to have another dig at rads and ifl.

Hock, to sum up, destructive and self destructive.

Having players like Hock is a part of the Rich tapestry of sport. Players who could've done anything they wanted if they didn't have the one defect that stopped them. Wigan have done okay, but a shame for him personally that he didn't have the career he should have had.

Thick as mince. Top player. I'm really glad he had his post-bad swansong at Wigan too. He'll be remembered for his form and potential before then but we saw just a little more of the player he was at his best. The away performance at Saints was a stand out.

Hope he has a happy retirement.

That's why I intimated that it wasn't at the start of this year (Those were the reporters words) but there was discussions 18months/2years ago (Which as I say only makes it slightly less worrying).
