Yes, the players need to catch the ball. Hardly a coaching issue at that level is it? If a player drops the ball on the 1st tackle, is it Lam’s fault for not teaching him to catch?

The very, very low skills of many of our players is a cause for concern. But I think the coach has some responsibilty for that too.
Players like Tautai need to be on a 5-week intensive course on how to catch a football. It's incredible that the guy is actually earning a living from this. But instead, he keeps getting picked and making the same mistakes again and again and again ...
Lam's only got so many options, so I don't blame him entirely. But he's really got to get more out of these players than he is doing. Half of them were at OT last season.

No but it’s far beyond that, if we had good shape in attack and offered set moves etc but was dropping the ball then Lam wouldn’t be to blame, but we offer zero in attack, we have no shape no structure and throw the ball around like headless chickens
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

Yes. Even the worlds best players need to work on basics.

What's changed between this season were they can't catch a ball and last season when they could?

Under Shaun wane the first 45 minutes of each session started with grip carry, so they were always practicing the basics don't know if they do under lam

Exactly. More to the point, do people really think that's the issue with the club? Defending Lam at this stage is getting a bit much. One good game all season. Many many poor to terrible.

Skills wise - nothing.
Attitude wise - everything.
The players take to the field and play literally like they don’t care. I can’t help but feel that is evenly down to Lam as a coach and the uncertainty surrounding 2020’s Head Coach. I just can’t shake the belief that all isn’t well in camp and relations between players and the coaching staff are poor. That coupled with some bang average (arguably below average) players we have in the squad and in addition to the above we have a recipe for exactly what’s happening now. Controversy to controversy, PR disaster to PR disaster, loss to loss. Regardless of Hull KR’s new coaching addition, the likes of Saints/Warrington would have put them to the sword. We showed a complete incapability of doing so and just scraped a win - we got lucky. Luck only takes a team so far in sport, the rest is down to the staff.
In short - it’s time for Lam to go and a new Head Coach appointed.
