Wigan was too clinical today in horrific conditions but team never gave in and kept at it. Our last tackle plays was as bad as the weather today. McConnell prob our best along with McLelland, Joe Burton and Whitton but like I say Wigan too good today and deserved their win.

Holroyd got injured 15 mins into his 1st game back at Saints. He has broken a bone in his foot. Out for another month at least. 2 weeks in a boot and 2 weeks rehab after that.

Thanks Marty. Did we struggle up front a little? Wigan are very physical. We couldn’t cope with Huddersfield for similar reasons.
Am I right that we tend to field more “under age” players than most other sides though? A year or two makes a huge difference at that age.

The starting pack today were all 2nd and 3rd years, 3 of each, so pretty standard, not particularly young. Only 2 first years in the starting 13, so we had a pretty experienced team playing. Credit to Wigan, very good team.

Fair dos. Hopefully we’ll get them in the GF and turn the tables.

Genuine question, where are we weak given I keep hearing how we have the best batch of youngsters for years?

Were currently missing our starting props, Holroyd injured and Dupree on loan at York, and our halves are poor which leads to not a great kicking game. McLelland is ok but hes nobody with him. Those are the weaknesses of the team.

The pack when at full strength is very good which leads to a stronger bench and Broadbent in the centre is outstanding also.

I think there are some clear future first graders in the pack, and agree on Broadbent too. McLelland is solid in D and has a kicking and passing game, but I was expecting some more from running...

Muizz has gone on loan to Newcastle for a month. Look forward to hearing how he gets on.

Hopefully Muzzy gets plenty of minutes because if he lives up to his potential we have another quality young Forward to add to our 1st team ranks.

Do you know how the young ones and napoleon got on last night?

Sorry only just seen this.

From memory, Johnson was the most impressive of the Leeds youngsters (created one really good try), though I don't think Trout was on for that long. It's a big ask for a young half like McLelland to come into a good-quality Championship game such as Widnes v Fev and stand out, he went ok without really shining.

Wellington Albert played very well, though his size and offloading ability are always going to make him a handful against Championship opposition.
