I'm with you on this. For me we need the forwards to lay a platform for the backs to do their stuff. For a few seasons our forwards have been doing less 'hard yards' from deep, instead we have seen our wingers/centres bringing the ball out. Forgivable under Wane as defence was tight, however this season we are seeing nothing at all.

I’ve said it a few times but I honestly think even someone like Craig Bellamy would struggle to get more out of the current side. There are just too many players who are not good enough and the disruption has been significant. It’s virtually impossible to change a playing style with you can’t put the same 17 on the park two weeks running. Whoever gets the job will need to upgrade the playing roster quite a bit in key positions.

I strongly believe that Lam was appointed with a remit to change the style of play. We simply do not have the playing personnel to execute that change effectively. IL knows that, KR knows that and Lam knows that.

IL said this will be a transitional season which imo was said because of the reason above.

I’ve got no objection to Lam getting the job, if he does it will be the back end of next season when the club have had a chance to change some of the playing personnel before I judge him.

Whether he does or not will largely depend on who else is available and interested.

I’m not sold on Lam and wouldn’t really have too many complaints if he were to leave. He was brought in to bring a more attacking freestyle to us taking us from the boring, but successful, static set play of the SW era.

That being said he hasn’t got the personnel good enough or wide ranging enough in their play to execute it properly which leaves GW running around like a headless chicken looking like an amateur when he’s anything but.

In that respect it has to be balanced out, but then would a Justin Holbrook/Michael Maguire/Daryl Powell type appointment change us for the better? Likely but not guaranteed.

I do expect Lam to be given the job, it doesn’t fill me with thrills I must admit. I just don’t think he’s good enough or has enough control over his players. But I will also admit I would like to see him coaching with players of quality who suit the style he wants to play. I suspect that day is quite some time away.

I don't buy this "we haven't got the squad to play attacking football" argument. Salford manage to do it, Huddersfield manage to do it; are their squads really superior to ours?

interesting to hear JAKE Bibby SAY HE hadn't spoken to Lam only Rads.


That suggested to me that Lam may not be our coach next year.

I thought IL and KR do all new contracts even when SW was the coach.
