Grixy has had a great start. In the post- match interview on Saturday, QLT made mention about more attacking freedom and I seem to remember Grix saying from the Eagles game that he wanted Murrell, QLT, White, WBH and now Scott Grix to have more touches of the ball. It seems maybe as well that Brandon Moore is spending more time in the second row with Kaye more time at hooker. Perhaps I am being disrespectful to BK but his distribution is still too slow but clearly defensively and perhaps his leadership is all there for all to see. We look more fluid in attack and with Tangata to come back, we have weapons all across the pitch in the likes of Barber, Sharp, Robinson, Butler, QLT. The forwards really stood up well to a massive Bradford pack. Kav and Fairbank have been awesome the last month. Young Davies as well has been really impressive.
I am still not convinced that Grixy is the 'right' choice but if he is, I hope that we are maybe looking at an experienced assistant to guide and troubleshoot. It's pretty clear that Marshall has been giving Grix tutelage and guidance and as I said before, any organisation worth its salt has some sort of succession management in place so arguably, Grix is ready for the step up despite the inexperience. I know it's not a linear comparison but if you look at Sean McVay who is head coach of the LA Rams in the NFL, he is 32 and took them to the superbowl last year, heading up umpteen different coaches as we all well know with american football teams. A true test will be when we eventually hit a slump in form and see how he gets the team to respond.
