Thank God I'm an atheist.

My last three pints of real ale have been shoite ...
Snecklifter in the Sun.... sour ... took it back.
Some Selby ale in the Ale house and deli.
Timothy Taylor in the Mallard in town ... I have seldom had a good pint of beer in there ... should stick to lager ... mind you once had a flat pint of Carling in there

Two of those I would never go in these days.

Spoons festival ...

The Hedley Verity, Leeds - Wadworth Elderberry IPA 4.6%, dark red in colour, this is a sweet and spicy IPA with a bitter finish.

The Hedley Verity, Leeds - Hook Norton Crafty Fox 4.4%, dark brown rather than black (badged as a black IPA). Hints of coffee and roasted malts but not enough for my taste. Hoppy but the more you progress astringent! Not for me.

The Cuthbert Broderick, Leeds - Arundel Brewhouse Best Bitter 4.0%, a copper coloured best bitter. Malty with caramel and toffee notes. Exactly how a best bitter should be. Excellent!

The Cuthbert Broderick, Leeds - Darling Gypsy Mask 4.0%, brewed by South African brewer Rene du Toit at Shepherd Neame brewery. A red ale with biscuit, caramel and toffee flavours, a hint of citrus and some malt. Decent.

The Cuthbert Broderick, Leeds - Maxim Raspberry Porter 5.0%, slightly on the thin side for a porter. However, sufficient malt, chocolate and fruit to make it an acceptable ale.

Beckett's Bank, Leeds - St Peters Bloomin' Marvellous 4.1%, not the worst pale ale I've had but they aren't really my bag. A little earthy / herby. I wouldn't put anyone off.

Beckett's Bank, Leeds - Fyne Ales Hideaway 3.8%, a light amber coloured ale with citrus flavours especially grapefruit. Not really my thing.
