2019 Betfred Championship Round Up - Round One The opening weekend of the Betfred Championship served up some interesting prospects as the Widnes Vikings, York City Knights and Bradford Bulls joined the survivors from last season in an expanded fourteen team competition, all with their sights on the play-offs final and a Super League XXV place in 2020. The game of the round saw newly promoted York City Knights take on last years losing Million Pound Game side the Toronto Wolfpack as the Canadian side welcomed a new dawn under coach Brian McDermott. "Leigh Centurions did it tough for their first win of the season over Toulouse Olympique XIII" Excellent journalism. It was the opening day of the league season, so all sides suffered their first win/defeat in 2019.
Part Time v Full time, so yes it was tough, but although you never relax against Toulouse when they have the ball....it was a fully deserved win.

I foresee the French and Canadian teams at the top of the pile by mid season, while the PNG staffed teams Barrow and Featherstone will both do well by sitting in the top half of the ladder.

I’ll help you Jean, we only beat Tolouse because of the 4 Saints first teamers we had playing for us

That sounds right. Of course Saints DR Luke Douglas was formerly an NRL prop if I recall correctly.

Just like Patty Vaivai, who played for Toulouse. The game was very entertaining and played in a sporting manner. Toulouse applauded the Leigh fans at the end and the fans responded by applauding the visitors. Great stuff and plenty entente cordiale.

I will state this now, no French team will be top of any pile come mid season.
