Just a brief look at the representative status of the likely Sydney Roosters team demonstrates the enormity of the task facing Wigan:

FB: James Tedesco (Australia and NSW, former Italy) State of Origin Man of the Match 2018, Brad Fittler Medal State of Origin player of series 2018.
WG: Brett Morris (former Australia and NSW)
WG: Daniel Tupou (Tonga and former NSW)
CE: Latrell Mitchell (Australia and NSW)
CE: Joseph Manu (New Zealand)
FE: Luke Keary (Australia) Clive Churchill Medal as best player in the NRL Grand Final 2018.
HB: Cooper Cronk (former Australia and QLD)

LF: Victor Radley
SR: Boyd Cordner (Australia and NSW captain)
SR: Angus Crichton (NSW)
PR: Jared Warea-Hargreaves (New Zealand)
PR: Sio Siua Taukeiaho (Tonga and former New Zealand)
HK: Jake Friend

Interchange:

LF: Isaac Liu (New Zealand and former Samoa)
SR: Mitchell Aubusson
PR: Zane Tetevano
PR: Lindsay Collins

I doubt that any other NRL team has such a glittering array of representative talent. Certainly no Super League team, including Wigan, does. Even non-representative players Jake Friend, and rising star Victor Radley, are outstanding.

Little correction on one of the names lad

I just hope that the Sydney Roosters put out their best team and do not underestimate Wigan's ability.
The fact that they are flying to the UK suggests that they will take the game seriously. Plus coach Trent Robinson takes winning -- and winning important titles like WCC especially -- seriously.

The only important questions are whether they risk playing Cooper Cronk, and if he has recovered from surgery and is at a good fitness level. Cronk and Keary together can put on quite a brilliant display.

Well they weren't going to drive here were they?

Surprised that you're not looking forward to seeing the first French back win the WCC trophy.

I would love to see the fabulous Morgan Escare, and also the ruggedly solid Romain Navarette, win the highly prestigious WCC. My point is that it is most unlikely to happen this year with this Sydney Roosters side playing for the title.

I grew up in Timperley and one of my good mates is Chris Sievey(who played Frank Sidebottom)’s son.

The documentary film “Being Frank” comes out in March for any Frank fans... it’ll be good... it really will...

I don't live in Chorley but I do have relatives over in Australia. They work in the French consulate in Sydney and are avid rugby league fans. In any case I try to keep up with all the Australian rugby league websites, including a subscription to http://www.watchnrl.com, which is how I know so incredibly much about the NRL.

I have never heard of Frank Sidebottom. However decades ago I did see Kevin Longbottom play for South Sydney.
