Pre-season : Tue Nov 20, 2018 4:12 pm  

So, we've started pre-season. No off-field drama. No unpaid wages, WUP. A coach in place, signings more or less finished. No wholesale changes throughout the off-season, just a few quality additions added to the squad enabling continuity and no need for a load of nww players to gel. A lot more players now FT. 3 months for the squad to train together and work under Kears regime before the season kicks-off.

Meanwhile others seem to have either no squad, a coach walking out on them, embroiled in legal battles, or a skeleton of a squad and beginning pre-season.

Feels weird doesn't it.

Well I'm very grateful. The christmas we were liquidated was genuinely upsetting. A glance around the game shows plenty of woe for some this Christmas.

I know we've had some chippy buggers from keighley but I feel for all the players and staff who haven't been paid for some time.

Agreed. That Christmas was ruined for me and the year itself wasn't much better. Leigh at least look like they won't be putting their fans through that over Christmas. Poor Keighley look a mess.

My post was more tongue in cheek in that it is genuinely about 5 years since we've had this kind of stability in pre-season and we're not the hot news for the RL papers in the off-season. Long may it continue.

I daren't get too pleased about it in case I jinx it.

For all the gloating by some Keighley supporters I feel for their predicament. As for the Leigh situation has there actually been any official word that they're now ok apart from some rumoured signings? Like Keighley they were in special measures and I've not heard if this was withdrawn. We know that there can be a lot of false dawns in this process.

As for us it'll be interesting to see how we go after a proper pre season.

Yes, definitely a 'steady as she goes' start for the season and very welcome it is too. Things are looking up and that light at the end of the tunnel, glimmer such as it is, seems to be flickering just a few photons brighter.


Agree about Keighley and Leigh. It seems that RL is bedevilled by these problems to some club or another every year. Fortunately few seem to totally go to the wall and I hope both can be resolved and they compete in their respective divisions next season.

Has there been word on where Leigh will be competing next season and if there will be any sanctions?
