We've a whole generation of players who wouldn't have a clue what to do in a contested scrum. It may well be difficult to re-introduce now.

I take your point. I really don't want to go back to the days of collapsing scrums. It's all hypothetical anyway, because it simply won't happen. The game is completely changed from when we had contested scrums .
I simply cannot stand the sham that is a present day 'scrum'

Without a scrum though where is there an advantage at the point of the offence/error. You just going to go straight for a kick to touch to gain field position?
