Here is a constructive proposal:

Have the Golden Boot selection include the Dally M winner, the Man of Steel winner, and also the international games. That would make it more objective.

If that had happened this year, I think the Golden Boot would probably go to New Zealand's Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

The golden boot should be the best player in the world not simply the best player in international games. International games, rep games and finals rugby should hold a higher regard but everything should be considered.
Makinson has had a great season but in terms of big games has had one good game and one excellent game. For me Whitehead has had a great season and and 2 excellent games in the test series, which would make him a more worthy winner for me.
I actually think Latrell Mitchell has been more influential than Tedesco but wasn't even considered.
I think they need to change the criteria for the golden boot especially when Australia seem to decide the international calender.

Agree, Latrell's had an awesome year but seen as they've changed the criteria it is what it is.

I'm glad an English lad won it tbh even if it's just for the reaction from the Aussies. Saying that if the time period goes all the way back to the World Cup Final I think Whitehead is seriously unlucky not to get it - when was the last time he had a poor game for England.

Anyway well done TM.

The time period really is the only issue wrong with it imo. Just have it for all 2018 internationals. Going from the last game of 2017 up to the penultimate game of 2018 is just strange. Whoever has a great game on Sunday presumably takes pole position for an award given 12 months from now where most people will probably have forgotten the players petformance by then and thus will rate the more recent performances better.

The Leigh and Wakefield fans mentality......

Say something negative about any other team than theirs - Its an opinion

Despite what the wakefield fans, Brad Fittler and Barry McKenzie say, Tommy Makinson is still the golden boot winner. All the interviews he has given since show how humble and appreciative he is for it. Even the bbc breakfast did a nice article on him

Peter Best, the drummer for the Beatles before Ringo Starr came along. Peter lost the chance of making hundreds of millions -- it was like losing a winning lottery ticket -- so we all feel his pain.

Thus caring people like "Bullseye," when frustrated with problems like persistent Tom Johnstone obsessives, always invoke poor Peter Best's name as he was best known -- "Pete".

Thats not his proper name, he is Randolph Scanland and wasn't born in Scouseland.

Back on topic, Dallin Watene-Zeleozniak has confirmed that Tommy Mak was more deserving of the award than himself, I would think so he let in 2 tries in the first test being skinned by Gildart on the outside, similarly in the 2nd test being skinned by Makinson on the inside.

I would imagine the final decision came with Makinsons try saving tackles rather than all the tries he scored over his 3 tests so far, too many players have been spotlighted for there eye catching attack when defence is just as important. If it was judged this way then I would have Whitehead as a very close runner up.

Whitehead is very similar to James Roby when it comes to standard of class, Roby is often overlooked because of his high standard and I think Whitehead has become the same.

The best test side this year has been England after winning a one off test with NZ, warm up against the French and then a series against New Zealand.

It should be an English player that wins it under the rules.

Correct choice and we’ll deserved for me. Although I am biased against Wakefield so it should have Bernard Tom johnstone.

Correct. But the xenophobic troll won’t accept that anything English is good, let alone the best.
