I think we have done well, in the most part, to retain the better players from last season. But as suggested I would now hope the remaining handful of signings would all be better than what has gone and all be starting players compared to what we have as opposed to back up for what we already have.

Workington ended the season strong and will be looknig to improve for 2019, Oldham finished aruably one of the form sides of the division and we can expect them to be up there. Newcastle and Hunslet seem to be spending a lot too and will be better than than this year. We need to be better than this year

I see that Newcastle Thunder have signed Misi Taulapapa.

In the old days people would post all sorts of pictures on RL forums.
They can't be bothered now or even allowed because of copyright issues.
I can't be bothered ... but if I could it would be the classic cowboy town, deserted and with tumbleweed blowing down the street.
That sums up up this thread and the Dons' recruitment thus far.

I would hope for a few more signings before the season starts , however with the lack of news it looks like we will be relying on Hull again to bolster our small squad.

I don't have a problem with this as I think last seasons injury crisis at the KC played a large part in our failure to win promotion, hopefully this year we can hold on to the players we were due to have all season and have a more settled side

Well yes and no reason why we can't be more successful than last year using Hull players.
But, unless we are pretty much the top side from the get go, very few people will come to watch us I feel.
Why?
We will be a bit of a gypsy side with few lads of our own, less belonging to the Dons and less identity.
It's a poor model in my view when you don't know who is playing from one week to the next and I don't think fans like a set up where we are essentially a bunch of cadgers.

Here is a bit about us on the Hull website. It’s a story about there various coaching appointments for next season.

The reserve grade will complement the dual-registration partnership with Doncaster RLFC which will continue next season, with Hull FC coach and former player, Richard Horne, continuing his role as head coach at the Dons.

There is a saying that roughly goes 'nature abhors a vacuum'.
One parallel to this is 'in the absence if any information, folk will fill the void with their own take on things'.
And so it is here ...
Apart from a few player profiles/takes on last season ... we are getting NEXT TO NOTHING!
Surely this is not in the best interests of the club ...
At a time when certain teams ARE taking a high profile and revving up interest, our approach is very, very strange. Almost secretive, almost anti-revenue.
If this is gonna be another hand to mouth effort I will be very disappointed.
Let's have an update please, a mission statement, anything!

We need to start signing some decent players if they want to start selling some season tickets. Has any one heard anything about any incomings ?? There’s not been anything from the club. Not exactly the way to get fans excited for the new season

Re: Next year : Sat Nov 10, 2018 9:13 am
I'm just guessing but maybe there's a change in marketing strategy so that announcements are made in the lead up to Christmas to encourage more season ticket sales at that time?

The last two Fans Panel meetings have been cancelled for various reasons, the next one is on Thursday 22nd November. If nothing is announced between now and then, we should be able to find out more at that point regarding the clubs plans and strategies. I'll start a thread for questions for that meeting in a week or so.

I agree. Decent signings both. I stand by my assessment of 5 quality players needed. Not filler. Quality now. I understand we're looking at an excellent young full back but he's probably more of a long term prospect.

Hope that fullback is not the one skolars just signed.
