Peacock has gone : Mon Oct 22, 2018 7:17 pm
Announced his departure. Apparently TS has taken on some of his duties. I suppose he is off the wage bill. Be interesting to see what happens next. Would like to see the Garbutt rumour confirmed but would be surprised.

Well, I don’t think anybody can doubt his honesty. And it’s not like we’d been flying high before his arrival.

It didn’t work out, but that’s where you learn the big lessons in life. Also and tbf, he was still involved while it was put back together again. Good luck to him.

My opinion:
Waste of time
Waste of money
Too anonymous
Too interested in bringing ex teammates than doing a proper job ala Motu Tony
Rovers benifited him, more than rovers (management networking)
Pretty disappointing tenure considering who and what he’d done in the game.
Bye Jamie.

Jamie who?

I expect the next announcement will be an extension for Sheens, then moving into Director of football in 2020 and keeping an eye on Webbo as he takes the coaching role again.

The posts on this thread show why we are only supporters. From what i've been told, the professionalism and improvement in the backroom staff and functions are noticeably better than before he was here. He has helped lay some solid foundations for the club and i for one thank him for what he has done.

Waste of money How much did he cost? again what were his deliverables
Too anonymous He raised the profile of the club when he arrived and even donned the shirt when backs to wall, I agree he could have done more on his twitter feed
Too interested in bringing ex teammates than doing a proper job ala Motu Tony I agree that Mulhern is rubbish
Rovers benifited him, more than rovers (management networking) did it? I'm struggling to see how we benfitted him other than wages, he had media work already
Pretty disappointing tenure considering who and what he’d done in the game.
Bye Jamie. He was a prop forward with no experience of management in the game, if he did fail, (which without knowing his objectives I struggle to see how he can be judged) then it our fault for employing someone who had no experience in the area he was going into

Apart from the stuff in red I agree

I’ve heard it said that things were a bit semi-pro under Morgan, and that structures have improved since. However, results deteriorated too - reaching a nadir in 2016. It isn’t a completely fair comparison - the board had a different focus, and there were more opportunities to bring in players that could make a difference back then.

It’s difficult to know the extent to which Peacock was responsible for what happened leading up to relegation and certainly it was nowhere near all his fault. He inherited a situation that was already less than ideal, plenty of stuff that you’d assume was outside his remit went wrong, including a lot of plain bad luck. When things got desperate he pulled on the shirt, and when the worst happened he offered his resignation. None of the negativity reflects badly on him as person. However, recruitment (or relative lack thereof, in the forwards particularly - perhaps we’d already allocated too much budget elsewhere), the 5-year plan and focus on patience, the reaction to the Oldham defeat, and eventual relegation... the failures were very visible. Behind the scenes he may very well have made a very positive contribution.

We make one more tackle or win that coin toss in the MPG, and maybe history would have turned out very differently. Top bloke i’m sure, but as it turned out his long-term plan barely got out of the starting gate. As he said himself, everybody has a plan until they’re punched in the face, and the fates came armed with knuckle dusters that year.

All valid points. However the ultimate question you have to ask is "Are we in a better condition as a club since he has been here?"
