Sarginson : Sat Sep 15, 2018 7:14 pm
Hes no world beater but he gives his all every week. Been playing much better on the left. He put in some great defence on Atkins last night and i lost count of how many times he volunteered to take the first carry off our own line. I like him.

Always liked Sarginson. Talented lad who as we've all seen plays better on the left than right.

Problem is he shouldn’t be played on the left just because he’s more comfortable there. Gildart is better on the left so he should play there. When Farrell is back is Gildart should go left centre Bateman right centre and Farrell/Greenwood in second row

Is it actually because Gildart was born in a WN postcode and Sarg is an outsider?

I’m not sure that’s what he’s saying? Out of the 2, who is the better, more effective player at left centre? In my opinion it’s Gildart and if we were to play our best players in their best position then Gildart would get the nod.

Sarginson’s form has undoubtedly improved since his shift to the left and his effort and commitment has never been questioned but let’s not kid ourselves, for 2 thirds of the season he was poor. Perhaps the injury was a factor but he was poor and in the one full game Hankinson played, he was far better and more effective. On what I’ve seen all season, unless we recruit then our centres next year will be Gildart on the left & Hankinson on the right. Sarge will have a real scrap on his hands to get a starting shirt.

Gildart looks pretty comfortable on the right whereas Sarginson didn’t. Gildart is the better player but if he can still perform well on that right side and Sarginson is a far far better player on the left then it’s probably best for the team to set up that way.

The one thing I would say about Sarginson on that left side in comparison to Gildart on this years form only is that I think Sarge has out performed Gildart. As I say I believe Gildart is the more talented player but I do t think he’s been at his best this year. He’s picked up recently but it’s took him a while to get going.

That wasn’t my point at all, Gildart should be playing on the left because he’s better than Sarge there. Try Sarge on the right against Huddersfield and if he’s crap then it shows he’s a limited player and Bateman should go into the centres

With Farrell and now Isa injured we need Bateman in the pack.
As NK said go with Sarge left and Gildart right to get a better balance of ability and form.

So If Sarge plays well on the left and Gildart doesn't on the right is it because Gildart is a limited player?

Yes, but so far Gildart has played well on the right. No problem with Sarge just don’t think we should be playing our best centre on the opposite side just to fit someone in who’s very average
