Warriors Devastate the Dragons Catalans Dragons and Wigan Warriors came into this evengs match in Perpignan with two very differents agendas. For the home side it was important to build some momentum ahead of next Saturday's Challenge Cup final while avoiding any injuries to key personnel. For Wigan Warriors the win was important to maintain their push for a top two finish and a home tie in the play-offs as they seek a place in the Old Trafford showpiece. The Dragons coach Steve McNamara made a host of changes to the side which lost heavily at Warrington in the Cup Final dress rehearsal last time out, but coach Wane had the luxury of naming the same seventeen which triumphed over Castelford Tigers in round twenty-four. Catalans started like a house on fire. They had several chances in the first 5 minutes but then seemed to lose interest when we stood up to them. They spent the rest of the game working at 80% with little attacking threat. Wigan played well and were allowed enough room and time to throw the ball around. That did not always go well. Escape had a fine game on the wing when Liam went off injured. I hope it was not as bad as it looked but when you suddenly collapse without contact it is usually is not good. Sam bosses the game but Williams looked like a weight has gone off his shoulders. The forwards generally dominated with Greenwood looking in fine form. Partington has his second good game in a row.

I didn't expect any other result to be honest. Catalan being in the final next week and so on.

No idea on the bookies odds, but I have a sneaking feeling they 'might' just pip 'wire'.

I never think it's the best way to prep for a Cup Final, wrapping yourself in cotton wool the week before.

Neither Graham Lowe nor John Monie ever made that mistake.
