Why would the commonwealth, who we already trade with, suddenly be such a great option and thats before we get onto the subject of some of these countries already trying to become republican states, away from our "control"

Anyway, back to RL, we just have to ensure that the game can grow, regardless of who we may get into bed with economically.

You don't think these nations recognise the position of huge weakness we've put ourselves in? They have us by the knackers. S**t happens though and life goes on.

The main risk to me would be the potential for a reduction in funding from government for the game as a whole if the economy struggles. Austerity has already had a crippling effect on the community game and participation.

As far as travel between the EU and UK is concerned I don’t foresee too many problems. If we need Visas to travel to the EU then they’ve really messed up the negotiations.

Not really. Things have a tendency to work themselves out. A big good bye the endless money pit Brussels Sprout will be a blessing in the long run.

Not sure it would affect RL too much unless an English team wants to sign a Frenchman. (If visas are required). However it would give Football the chance to cap the influx of non British players in the various leagues if there was no free movement

Brexit? Really?
However did this country manage before 1973 (when we joined the Common Market)? Or didn't RL exist befor Super League?
Rules may change but Rugby League will survive whether we are in Europe or not.
I will also go out on a limb and say the sky won't fall in either.

The sport has suffered in the past 10 years due to a lack of money be that money from Sport England for the grassroots, money from sponsors and money from spectators. Players in the UK have seen static earnings for ages as have spectators. Sponsorship is harder to find as companies are finding their margins tighten. The recession and austerity have taken a toll on the game. If Brexit causes further economic hardship it’ll hit the game hard as it’s already vulnerable with many clubs living hand to mouth.

It’s got to be a risk.

The issues about visas and passports are a red herring IMO.

Agreed.

The economy has had a massive effect on RL and any negative economic effects Brexit has on the economy will hit RL harder than a lot of other sports.
