Toulouse for Championship in 2017, Super League in 2021!

Avignon for Championship in 2021, Super League in 2022!

A great week for France : Sun Jul 15, 2018 9:03 pm
Thursday: Catalans Dragons draw 22-22 with the much fancied Warrington Wolves, at Warrington, despite having a man in the sin bin for 10 minutes.

Sunday: Toulouse Olympique defeat Barrow Raiders 72-6 at Barrow.

Sunday: France wins the FIFA World Cup in Moscow 4-2 over Hrvatia (Croatia).

England took 4th place in the FIFA World Cup by losing to Belgium 2-0 the previous day.

France is surely at the moment a sporting power house greater than England.

Granted a great win by France earlier today, but pray tell in what other sports does France demonstrate a greater sporting prowess than England?

Of the top 10 sports in the world (by fan-base), neither country does that well. After football, cricket comes next, and then it's hockey, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, baseball, rugby union and golf.

If truth be known, we're both pretty average.

France were significantly assisted by the officials, no contact before Griezmann’s dive and a shocking penalty award. Add to those the own goal and the power house tag is hyperbole and typical of the false monsieur.

Actually, of the top two sports England are doing Ok. Just come 4th in the World Cup, 5th ranked in Cricket test matches and 1st in 1-day internationals.

Test rankings: India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, England.
ODi Rankings: England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan

I agree, England is on a high in international cricket rankings at the moment.

The OP was that France are a "sporting power house greater than England". I think not regardless of their footballing triumph.

Cricket only has 12 Test playing nations.

Football has the equivalent of nearly 200, with 32 in the World Cup playoffs. Football success must have much greater relative weight than cricket.

Rugby league is of course even weaker in international weight than cricket. But the success of French teams in recent days has been noticeable.

JESUS WEPT :WALL: HOW MANY TIMES?????
£20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000.
The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.

There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them. :BEAT:

Why do you have to derail the thread?

Where I live (which is not Chorley) has nothing to do with my point made. You have a slovenly mind.
