Senior Management excess : Tue Aug 29, 2017 5:21 pm
What is it with this government that they want to 'influence' so called salary excess of bosses leading private companies.

Leave them be and let them get on with it.

Someone has to earn low/minimum wage but that shouldn't influence the bosses package.

Ah yes, the return of slavery.

We're back to Mike Ashley, a multi millionaire, paying his workers less than the minimum wage.
Yep, just leave them to it, everything will be fine.

Some businesses are totally responsible and others less so.

Mind you, we also have many local government chief execs that are paid more than their boss (the PM), which is just madness and this should be one area that the state could legislate and control.

The Mike Ashley example is a poor one, as that's a breach of legislation.

When we apply for jobs we know the package and you have the opportunity of saying Yes or no when offered the position. What the boss earns is irrelevant.

Look at companies the provide Soft FM. Typically a majority of their workforce is minimum wage but the company could be globally massive. Why should the CEOs package reflect the lowest/average pay?
Equally some financial companies average or lower wage is massive and as such the CEO % multiple will be a lot lower. Its madness.

Just leave companies alone.

Companies should be left alone when they pay for the education of their prospective employees, for the infrastructure they moan about, give decent, sustainable returns to their shareholders, etc. Until they do the pay of their Board members should be regulated.

I tend to agree - it's a bit rich to expect to operate free from regulation, when the cheap workforce you benefit from is subsidised by the state in so many ways.

In reality however, the Tories would not dare to upset the very people who provide the finances for them to buy elections; so whatever they do, will merely be optical illusion, to appease the masses, whilst having no demonstrable effect on their wealthy paymasters.

Yes, Labour did so much to change things, didn't they!
