George Burgess: an English star is born. : Thu Mar 07, 2013 10:57 pm
George Burgess played a wonderful game off the bench for South Sydney against the Sydney Roosters last night. He scored a solo try up the centre and under the posts. Pundit Phil Gould declared George Burgess to be a "monster." Peter Sterling noted with a chuckle that "another one" -- George's twin brother Tom -- was waiting in the tunnel, and that the Burgess production line was rolling on. Hollywood superstar Russell Crowe was in attendance. If George can continue this form he will not only be a permanent member of the South Sydney team, he will be a certain and indispensable member of the England squad. It is clear that Steve McNamara cannot pick an England team that doesn't include George Burgess. And it may be only a few months to wait for Tom Burgess to join him on South Sydney's and perhaps England's bench.
