23k is never the average salary of a barman.
Depends on what is being taken into consideration......
Live in bar staff working 5 days (11 hour days) (I know that's more than 39yrs a week....but so is the Quins job) earning average company wages (6.50 an hour at the WW Ellis)) would earn about 18,950 a year.......with free digs (how do you value them?) and usually a free meal when working.......I would reckon 85 a week is the value of rent, heat, light, access to washing machie, dryer, cooker etc and 5 meals or more.......gives you 23k.
semantics anyway Listy.....the point is the job at quins is paying peanuts and we all know what you get when you pay peanuts..
The only redeeming thing is that there is no way that our EX-Marketing manager was on anything less than 40k PA, so maybe this person will be assisted by or even assisting the RFL Marketing person???????
