Widnes CEO should be fuming. Contract was agreed for both divisions. Not great for Widnes trying to plan either. Lost a lot of time they could have been finding other players and know what budget they have available. Could all be made up of course.

We've been cost cutting and saving money at every turn in widnes, this news would delight Rule who I heard has offered Gelling to a number of SL clubs. Our CEO is a joke of a man and a liar.

Can't blame Gelling though, doesn't want to be wasting these years in the Championship plus I'm sure Catalans will be offering him a pretty penny.

Gelling was on social media last night and says it's a work permit thing. In short, he won't be playing in Europe next season.

Gelling a cert at widnes. So instead sounds as though we are signing an NRL back and should be announced soon. No idea who tho as no names are being mentioned other than that it is a 'big name'.

According to Alex Chan, the football coach of the club, the Catalans are getting closer to the number of recruits abroad.

The Dragons have already impressively recruited in 2019 with the acquisitions of Sam Tomkins, Matty Smith and Matt Whitley.

However, Chan, who spoke to League Express of the Anthony Gelling saga, revealed that he was still working on another case before 2019, and hinted that it was a signature that would catch the eye.

"I can not go further than to say that we are in deep negotiations with a leading player in the southern hemisphere," he said.

"If we can overcome what has happened in recent days, we can begin to make progress in this area. Now it's up to Steve (McNamara) to evaluate. We are lucky with what we have this year.
