Dons V Keighley Sunday 21st August 2022 3pm : Mon Aug 15, 2022 4:46 pm
The BIG One!

Keighley will be crowned champions on Saturday if N Wales don't beat Rochdale. Keighley might be more inclined to put their feet up if they've already got it won!

If N Wales beat Rochdale, Keighley will need a point against us to be crowned top dogs.

Weekend games:
Saturday 20th August: W Wales v Midlands; N Wales v Rochdale
Sunday 21st August: Cornwall v Oldham; Dons v Keighley; Swinton v Hunslet

If North Wales beat Rochdale and we lose to Keighley we can only match N Wales on points. They're presently 88 points better than us on points diff but they've got Swinton and Keighley to play in their last two games. If we beat Hunslet and thrash London, we could still overtake them.

We could really do with Hunslet beating Swinton.

We should get a good crowd as I'm sure Keighley will bring a few. It'd be nice to better 1500.

I hope Ben Johnston is back as we need his flare in attack.

If we want to keep our hopes alive of finishing second, we really need to win this one. We're in good form so should certainly have a chance if we play to our best.

Looking forward to it...
I presume Ben Johnston will be back on Sunday, if he isn't then someone needs a rocket up their jacksie.
I think our only chance is moving out of Keighley's range with good attack and then some grinding defence when needed.
Put differently, I think our attack could win this one by outscoring Keighley in a high scorer...but that's it...we can only hope to keep them to four or five tries and outscore them.
If any of that makes sense...play a catious game and we lose.

Ben Johnston is a must.

We need to put them under pressure from the start, make them realise they're in a game and outscore them in an open match.

Good discipline is vital as you don't want to defend any more than you have to against teams like Keighley. If we can turn the ball over near their line and make them work hard for yards, we'll give ourselves a chance but we must be creative in attack as I think they'll have Jason Tali's card marked. He won't be our easy 'go to' option.

Very much looking forward to this game whatever the result, its a good hit out ready for the play offs. They are the bench mark despite Lovegrove saying we are the form team.
Richard Horne has some interesting selections to make . Assume Holdstock will return this week . I would be tempted to start Ruan . In the backs who knows with Johnstone being available & the new signing,

It is going to be a tough ask beating Keighley but who knows , hope to a 1500 plus crowd,
Saturday Result: N Wales 28, Rochdale 24.

Table:

Keighley 17, 34, +699
N Wales 18, 30, +348
Swinton 17, 26, +436
Dons 17, 26, +256
Rochdale 18, 24, +195

If we lose to Keighley, we can't overtake N Wales on points. They're 92 better than us on points diff at the moment. N Wales have got to play Keighley (A) and Swinton (H). Even if we lose today, we might still catch them if they get thumped in their last two games and we put some points past Hunslet and London.

We could really do with Hunslet springing a surprise at Swinton this afternoon.

Keighley need a point today to officially win the league.

Yes, well done to Keighley. They've set the bar high and proved considerably better than the rest.

We need to focus on getting the best league place we can, then give it our best shot in the play-offs.

Seems to have other priorities (issues).
