Theakston Old Peculiar 5.6%, an old ale. Pours deep brown. Aroma, fruit and nuts. Taste is roasted malts, fruit, nuts, caramel and spice. Decent when kept well.

Spoons Festival Ale ...

Adnams Cashmere 4.7%, an IPA. Pours clear golden. Aroma, yeasty. Taste is hops, lemon and gooseberry. So, so far from my taste. Gooseberry must be the new Grapefruit.

Spoons Festival Ale ...

Green Jack One Step Beyond 5.0%, a strong bitter. Pours copper coloured. Aroma, malt and biscuit. Taste is malt, biscuit, caramel and fruit. Slightly syrupy on the palate.

Salopian Infinite Orbit 5.4%, a strong golden ale. Pours hazy golden. Aroma, pine. Taste is pine, grassy and tropical fruits. Has a dry and bitter finish.

Roosters Rakau 3.9%, a pale ale. Pours clear golden. Aroma, hops and grassy. Taste is hoppy, grassy, apricot and grapefruit. Has an almost harsh finish.

Mauldons Cherry Porter 4.8%, a fruit porter. Pours black with a red tint. Aroma, chocolate and cherry. Taste is chocolate, coffee and cherry. Very nice!

Higsons NZ IPA 5.0%. Pours a slightly hazy straw colour. Aroma, light citrus. Taste, a little malt and hops, citrus and a hint of pine. Not bad.

Came up short, 37 of 40, not helped by being poorly from last Thursday.

One disappointment .. on more than one occasion walking in and spotting the clip for an ale still required only to be told 'we have the pump clip but not the beer'. This happened in Warrington and Manchester. Somewhat frustrating!
