I’ve banged on about this before. Saints and Wigan snuff out their opposition by being bigger, stronger, and faster than them. They put four men in a tackle then they’ll get up, get back ten, and be ready to tackle again. Everything else is just fluff. For all his faults I wish we could extrapolate what Danny Houghton does and get the rest of the squad as fit as he has been most of his career.

Under Hodgson, Training sessions were long, which the players didn't like.

Under Smith, they trained short sessions 3 days a week, which players treat like a jolly (Clifford's words for example).

Next coach needs to find the balance, and be supported by a experienced team of Conditioners, Physios etc. Not just some graduates from the Uni.

Interesting to hear the pod cast say about training on Astro turf and grass at the same time increases the chances of leg injuries .

Sort the fitness and the defence and we would be considerably better

This is how Wigan were trained by Maguire, 14 years ago,.and they still replicate the same pre- season drills today.
Intensity in preparation, = Intensity in performance.
The priority addition must be a proven, best in class Strength & Conditioning trainer.
Personally I hope we don't repeat panic signings again.
