Well done to Hull FC on making/securing this investment. I fear we sometimes have the ‘old Belfast mentality’, of if they’re winning we must be losing or vice versa.
The hoped for 110% increase in RL participation over 5 years… is that a typo? Even allowing for areas of potential rapid growth, such as in the girls’ and womens’ games, it seems very ambitious and a strangely specific number - especially with the mention of ‘over 11 grass pitches’ indicating a reluctance to commit to numbers such as 12 or 13. You’d just say 100% or a doubling, given it is just aspiration, no? Should it be 10%? I’m interested because a 110% increase would be huge for the wider community (including Rovers) and would clearly justify the council’s investment. I just wonder what the basis of the hope is.
