i think we could have signed hoy this week,if ponga hadnt have got injured.think hull were expecting he would be coming over this week.these things happen.it would be something if hull came out and said trueman had signed for next season.everyone and his dog saying hes signed, except hull.at least it would be some positive news.
The excitement comes from releasing Reynolds, why would you do that if not to replace him.
Add to fact that Hodgson said he hoped for an announcement 48 to 72 hours since Friday and so far nothing.
Press conference tomorrow, so I'm sure it will be asked and will get the usual nothing.
Hard to feel positive about the club at the moment.
Teams around us, have all done retention or recruitment whilst we have whilst we have announced Wynne.
People saying maybe we have nothing to announce, then bloody get something done, Trueman, Lovodua, even a few of the academy lads of long term deals, compared to others we seem to mess about or wait ages to announce deals.
Wasn't having a pop, Dave.
All Hodgson said was "We will have a look to see who we can bring in. We would like to bring in someone if they are going to add quality, and if they can help us get where we want to get to, but by no means is this the end of our season.
"We're not giving up. This is making sure that we're saying our standards are where they're at and we're contributing in a way that is benefitting the team. That's part of my coaching philosophy. I'll always put the team first and the decisions that we make throughout the season dictate that."
It was all the internet rumours about French and Hawkins that maybe got suppporters excited but that was nothing to do with the club. Perhaps they were expecting to be able to complete the Hoy signing but that was scuppered by his call up to the Knights side for this weekend.

I don't think the 48 - 72 hour timeframe has helped manage people's expectations.
It's a pivotal point of the season too. I think the club has been brave is binning Reynolds, but reckless without having his replacement signed already.

But what if, a chain of events had to start with his release, to enable the rest to fall into place, and then something happened that stalled the process. Then maybe, just maybe the club can't make any announcements without breaching confidentiality.

I thought Hodgson had something about concentrating on younger players. Can't find the quote though.
It was probably unwise to say we could have signing news within 72 hours. Maybe showed a lack of experience there.
Obviioulsy Gale going off injured and having to sit out the Leeds game too hasn't helped.

Totally, I can appreciate things have hit a snag. Obviously Ponga picking up a head knock has done that.
I'm not sure how it works in a 'live' salary cap scenario. Did we need to clear Reynolds wage before signing his replacement?
Like I say, it's an important part of the season, and we need to get back on the horse ASAP.

Not so sure. According to the various rumours he had just about signed for us last week before Origin.
Playing Hoy this week could put the move in jeopardy if he sustained an injury potentially robbing him of a lucrative contract.
Also Newcastle could easily cover FB for one or two games.
im still not too happy about this get out claus, you cant blame him i suppose but it sounds a bit like his agent is trying to get him a deal in the nrl.i remember scott prince kept hull dangling until brisbane moved in for him.
Once again, if it doesn’t fit your narrative, you rubbish it. There does seem to be substance in the story, like I said earlier, I was told last week about Trueman to FC this season, if Wire do sign someone and they usually find a way to do it, Widdop to Cas and Trueman to us. Apparently Wire are funding part of Widdop’s move.
