Can't defend Hodgeson after that. A lot has to improve before I think he deserves to keep the job.

Think he's doing a good job together with Shenton concerning the youngsters. Tonight he was stripped of Connor Tuime Griffin Swift Gale Davellio Cator. No wonder we are struggling. Not all down to Hodgson

If he's doing such a good job with the youngsters then slot them into the 1st team like Saints and Wigan do.

Difference being we have no structure to slot them into.
Without Connor we have nothing going forward.

Yes winning a game may be harder with such players missing but people would accept that if we had structure and shape and didn't look like headless chickens.

Some of the older pros now need removing from 1st choice or moving on to allow these youngsters there chance to shine.
This is where Hodgson now needs to step up and manage the team because currently the other place we look like heading is down the table.

I get Hodgson is the head coach so he gets the most flack however I’d love to know what our ‘attacking coach’ Purtill is actually doing. He’s been here since 2020 and our attack is just still dropping players off and running a wedge play to the open side.

Still wont surprise me to see Gaz and Shenton in the coach and assistant role.
Plenty of respect there and we know Gaz is doing a great job on the defensive side of the game.
May be rookies but we have seen many experienced coaches fail and Peet not doing a bad job at Wigan.
Apart from Hodgsons very poor recruitment he comes accross as been too nice and definitely too loyal to certain players

Personally I'd leave Ellis & Shenton, in their current roles.
Ellis has already stated , he's not interested in a Head Coaching role, doesn't like computers ...
The job of a Head Coach, is vastly different to an Assistant coach

I heard during an interview with Hodgson, he's letting the onfield players to organise the plays ,ball in hand. a la Radford...
For mine it's lazy coaching...
Saints lose their halves, and still score plenty, they are well structured with set plays..
Judging by our attack, Purtill isn't doing anything..

We’ve had no attacking identity for years, other than let the big guys smash their way through the middle.

Don’t see Saints moaning about losing their half back for the season. That’s because they’re well coached and have players who come in and slot into systems.

Matt Peet had a pretty extensive apprenticeship under McGuire and Wane.

As well as a stint in Union.

Plus he’s in an environment where good established processes are in place.

I answered the poster who said "The job of a Head Coach, is vastly different to an Assistant coach"
Peet was still an assistant irrespective of his background
