No, not at all. What I'm saying is we could have highly paid players but remain under the cap by using other dispensations as we have done in previous years.

Just my two'peneth and I may be completely off course but reading AP's comments saying we are over the salary cap I would think we are using all the other forms of dispensation to be stay inline within the 'cap' rules this way without needing to use the 'Marquee rule' dispensation.

You only have to look at the squad he has given us and the money it will no doubt cost to know he will have significantly increased the wage bill, with a speculate to accumulate policy. I am thankful we have AP as our owner and he has done what he promised and delivered a squad that is as good as any in SL.

Looking forward to this upcoming season and hoping to see this team deliver with the new additions on and off the field.

I think it does matter a bit. We have generally been at around this level vs the cap from what I can make out. - shipping players out on loan, using the RU and homegrown players exemptions, so if we're not leveraging the marquee player rule maybe it's the same as it ever was, other than a couple of players (e.g Kelly, Ma'u) have salaries that could trigger its use if needed. But this could not remain confidential per the rule quoted above.

The £200k comes from Adam Pearson. Its in the HDM Q&A article last week.

So given we are probably using the three dispensations below, I think we would only have Ratu in the new talent pool dispensation. I don't think we have any returning talent and very few internationals.

If the 200k is accurate, we would have £115k max from the first two making Ratu's 50% dispensation = £85K so his salary £170k. I can't believe that. It would make hanging onto him into 2021 even harder.

Another dispensation is education costs, I know the club do help with that but I can't believe it would be that much, especially as Bishop Burton College is a sponsor.

I'm struggling to find the 200k.



- Club Trained Dispensation – Each Super League Club is given up to £100,000 of dispensation for producing Super League standard players.

- Player Welfare Dispensation – Each Super League Club that achieves the player welfare target is given a £15,000 dispensation.

- New Talent Pool Dispensation – Any Player who has not previously played Rugby League is given a value of £0 in the first year of his contract and at 50% of his true value in the second year.

I don't think anyone is saying that our dispensations add up to £200k, although we are almost certainly below the cap at the moment because, as I've said before, until the season gets well under way, only the top 25 earners make up the "live" cap.

I reckon loaning out a player or 2, or moving someone on (AP did suggest this if players are unhappy not being selected), will reduce the £200k.
