Exactly.

Bring in a licensing system where clubs are reviewed every say 3/4 years to see if they meet the criteria. If they are failing and an ambitious championship club meets the criteria drop the SL club to the championship.

You are not pulling up the draw bridge and at the same time allowing the likes of Toulouse to establish themselves in SL.

Sorry Chris I really appreciate the way you have tidied this site up and made it great to use again. I was just replying and adding to the above post which I think was discussing the backdrop to recruitment in the bigger picture of the state of the British game and the need to develop our own players and where it all goes next.

Proper league of gentlemen stuff there, it's a local game for local people...we don't like your sorts here. Try going to a Catalan or Toulouse home game, will help broaden your horizons. Fev won't grow much bigger as a club than they are now, their catchment area is too small, ground isn't brilliant, the potential in Toulouse is huge, Catalan have achieved more in the top flight in. 16 years than a lot of "heartland" teams in Yorkshire,Lancashire and Cumbria have.

Spot on the game needs to spread away from m62

Catalan and Toronto have over 10,000 fans combined in South of france

Featherstone barely scrape 3k

Still think we missed the boat with toronto they were getting 8/9k had they're faults but north America love American football and think RL would of done orite over there

Gentle reminder but can we try and keep the thread on topic which is about Hull FC’s recruitment for 2024.

Thank you

To be fair everyone is getting bored only so many rumours can get spread before it gets boring

Especially with alot of key players leaving and only Pele signed

It wasn’t your post Wilf as there was quite a degree of your post that was on topic as you say regards the backdrop and issues. It’s the drift on to other teams and subjects that are not really relative to the t thread topic nor Hull FC.

Sorry I know I may seem like a killjoy at times

If you are bored then don't post on this thread or start a thread on the Vitrtual Terrace for general RL chat.

You’re not a killjoy Chris.

I think most will appreciate your efforts to try and keep this forum for how it was intended.

Must be difficult at times?

Any update on the James Healey investment you alluded to earlier this year?

No I didn't speak to the guy again- been letting my fez grow :! I didn't allude to it directly though, I said I didn't know if it was true or not, but this is what I'd heard. The guy who told me is big friends with Josh Hodgson and Radford, so when he's said things in the past, most of what he'd said was true, although his last conversation centred around Jordan Abdul and that he'd fallen out with Peters.

Davidson linking us to McLean

Exclusive: North Queensland prop Jordan McLean has been linked with a switch to Super League for 2024.

McLean is off-contract at the Cowboys at the end of this season.

rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands Hull FC want to bring the veteran front-rower to the UK.

McLean re-signed with North Queensland at the end of 2022 for one more season, but reportedly took a sizable pay cut to stay in Townsville.

Hull FC boss Tony Smith is looking to revamp his roster for next year.

McLean came through the Canberra Raiders system and debuted for the Melbourne Storm in 2013.

He played 86 games for the Storm and helped them win the 2017 grand final.

In 2018 the 31-year-old signed for the Cowboys.

The prop was part of the Australian team that won the 2017 World Cup and made eight Test appearances for the Kangaroos.

This season McLean has been a regular for North Queensland, making 19 appearances from the 23 rounds.

He has scored one try and is averaging 114 running metres and 9.7 hit-ups per game.

Be an excellent signing, just worry about the quota spots. Halfback has to be a priority for a spot (unless the unlikely rumours of Lewis are true). Then a backrower.

I wonder if the form of Houghton has changed things a but, him and Balmforth sharing the role next season.
