Obviously the money is important, that goes without saying. But it isn't just that, it is also about new ideas and/or a new way doing things. Everybody has a shelf life at a company but in sport that life span is shorter than most, things tend to go stale quicker. Players, coaches & yes owners all require changing eventually. Maybe the time has come? Something has to change though as we are stuck in a rut and have been regressing every year for five years.

I totally agree with all this. You only have to look at football and Man Utd to see you can have all the money yet can still be in a real mess. It runs deeper than money, but I still think money plays a big part in building a stable future. Unfortunately we’ve not had the privilege of being able to experience said financial clout.

Money does help but doesn't guarantee succes. You used Man United as an example, but I recall Ron Atkinson throwing the cash in the 80's, but they never won the league under him, and in our great sport, Leeds threw the chequebook at everything in the 80's and 90's, and how many times did they win the league in this time

I know everyone is upset about the game today and when this happens, people just fire at anything they can see.

But for me, the players we have are good enough and not performing. That is either coaching tactics or individual players.
We've seen them play better.

100% agree, it doesn’t guarantee you success, though I’d like our club to have the opportunity to actually have some and give it a good go!

Are they good enough though? The occasional good performance yes but the VAST majority of the time they have been proven on the whole not to be, thats why we keep being around the bottom just about scraping enough wins every year.

For me we have 6 'crown jewels', players who most other teams would like -
TJ
Fifita
Lino
Miller
Tanginoa
Lyne

We then have a handful of players who are either 'good for us' players generally in their mid twenties and have been here a while or promising youngsters. Guys like Jowitt & Batchelor spring to mind for the first category, Murphy, Hall & Aydin for the second. There's probably a couple of others but it's not a huge list.

Sadly for me most of the rest are either rapidly sliding down the wrong side of the age mountain or not really up to superleague standard. My worry is our luck will run out eventually, and if Toulouse get a roll on with their upcoming run of home games we are in deep trouble. And years of mostly poor recruitment and poor use of budget will be to blame in my opinion.

So even if you are right, you've named our whole back line, who we've seen score some fantastic tries, yet they now can't score when we have repeat sets on the line.

Have they become bad signings or are they just not performing?

Re: Mr Carter : Sun May 15, 2022 9:59 pm
The danger is that Toulouse are improving

They have come up from the Championship and have been acclimatising to the faster pace and higher intensity of Super League, they’ve got better week on week.
At the same time they have been on the lookout for players who will improve them, Corey Norman will make a huge difference to them when he starts playing, Ashall-Bott is an improvement on their previous Full Back and Daniel Alvaro is another very good addition.
They will continue to acclimatise and they’ll continue to recruit and that spells danger for us.

They are performing exactly to the same standard and style we have for the majority of games over the last four seasons. We have changed some of the players and coaches but the latter in the majority of cases have been from within.

They can’t do it all themselves. The problem is only 3 of those players mentioned have been signed in the last 3 years. Recent recruitment has been both poor and incredibly wasteful. Players have arrived that haven’t been any better than those who they replace and have taken up too much of the budget, signings have been made for signings sake and contracts have been extended for longer than they should have. That is not the players fault, it’s that of both the coaching staff and club management.
