He's been pretty poor for the last couple of seasons imho.

Well don't then but he has in the opinion of most, not least the Wigan coaching staff!

He's lost some pace but if you think that's what makes a great player then you carry on watching the game your way and I'll carry on my way.

FWIW, Miller looked better a few years back because he had Finn who complimented him brilliantly, he had no luck with Brough, which is not unknown but looks promising with Lino.

You have to accept players for what they are, Miller is a great support player and a good player in broken play. When making plays he tends to hesitate, he's not decisive enough to be a true playmaker and he comes undone when he tries. Horses for courses I suppose but pound for pound we won't find better.

Correct.

His pace has gone but the rest is better.

His defence is superb, sure he misses a few but put into context as to how many he makes and on what players he makes them he's excellent.

He has also developed the habit of causing the opposition carrier to drop the ball as he tends to direct his contact at the ball quite often.

Yep, he did it to one of Fevs bigger players.

I really like Miller these days as he's made the best of himself.

I honestly think that if there is any validity in sports psychiatry he'd benefit. For me, he's definitely got what golfers call a 'Yip' in his game. He does everything right and then in the last moment loses his nerve. Thus he shapes up for the long pass then suddenly he drops it short, normally to poor old Ashurst who thought he was the dummy runner, ditto with kicks, it's on but then it's either way too short or too long. Obviously, this doesn't happen every time but it's often enough to stop him from reaching his true potential. If he could banish that from his game then he'd be a brilliant all-around player.

In fairness to Miller, that's the difference with all players at all levels, total self-belief is an uncommon gift or curse.

No issues with his pace or support play. It's his decision making, dire kicking game and poor defence which let him down. His pet play of the flat (usually forward) suicide pass into traffic also irks me as it seems he cannot stop himself from trying it. At 29 with his experience I expect a little better.

Come off it, I can accept the rest as opinion but that's simply not true, you do realise he's a small player and occasionally small players lose the tussle.

If memory serves he was the 2nd highest in the missed tackles stat in the whole of Superleague last season .. 85 in 15 games if I recall correctly. I get that he's small and that smart coaches will target him but for me he goes too high and is too easy to bounce off. Checkout the Hardcastle opening score last weekend and his attempted goalline defence for an example of what I mean.

Was that after Arona (a prop) tried tackling Hardcastle and got put on his booty?

Can’t blame Miller for that when a prop failed to take down a back running at him.

As for Miller I’m fine with him. He tackles well above his weight. He does on ocassion get bumped off and miss some but that’s due to the amount he gets involved in defensively. Miller has his limitations yes but he’s good for us. He just needs a partner that can organise and be the yin to his yang. Mason seems the closest fit we’ve seen to that.

The only thing I criticise Miller for is his line crash balls that he sends to the runner (usually Ashurst) that end up getting smashed. Sometimes you need balls like that but not when he has a runner and wide options behind the man he’s sending a hospital pass to.

I honestly think that's part of his Yip, he's been doing it to him for years, you'd swear it was personal
