Passed Belle Vue this morning and the last of the 4 new pylons is now in place. Can anyone remember what Michael Carter said it was costing the club to replace the floodlights.

£400,000.was the figure he mentions on one of the recent Q & A session on trinity tv. I must admit it seems a lot to me, but they do make a difference.

If I recall correctly the old floodlights cost 175k 30 years ago so that sounds about right.

The difference is these work when switched on, the bulbs last much longer and cost far less and use way less electricity, so these will pay their way soon enough.

We might even get some games at BV shown on Sky, now that the pitch will be well lit.

I think Sky are reluctant to broadcast games from BV because of poor facilities for the commentary team and camera crews. Wasn’t there an incident a few years ago, when Eddie and Steveo had a near accident involving the steps/scaffolding to the commentary/camera positions?
Hopefully, that will all change in the near future :D

Rather games at BV not be on rather have fans through turnstiles instead

£400,000 for the lights plus re roofing the Cats Bar has taken a big chunk of cash out of the clubs coffers. With the reduced Sky money plus some of the clubs sponsors struggling with their continued support of the club means we're behind the black ball before the season starts.

Nah the cats bar and floodlights were budgeted for. Ditto the loss of SKY money was expected though perhaps not as severe as it transpired. Otherwise nothing new and as you say we are as ever behind the black ball
